Founded in 1921, Camp Atwater is the first and oldest Black-owned and operated summer camp in the United States. Created to meet the cultural, academic, and social needs of Black youth, Camp Atwater has spent more than 100 years providing a safe, affirming space where children can build confidence, leadership, and lifelong community.

More than 60,000 campers from across the country and abroad have experienced the joy and impact of Camp Atwater. This site exists to ensure that legacy continues.

Sponsorships and donations help remove financial barriers so more children can attend camp. Your support directly funds camper tuition, programming, meals, housing, and staff, making it possible for the next generation to experience a summer that can shape their future.

When you give, you are preserving a historic institution and investing in possibility, belonging, and opportunity for Black youth.
